Let’s talk about the MTN Fiber Broadband service. Please note—this is not the same as the MTN 4G broadband router. This is a completely different product.
What is MTN Fiber Broadband?
The device you see here (yes, this one!) is absolutely free. You don’t pay anything for the device or for installation.
Now, if you’re wondering what “fiber internet” means, it’s essentially wired broadband—installed directly in your home. Unlike mobile broadband (4G or 5G), fiber internet offers a more stable and faster connection, particularly for data-intensive activities such as streaming, gaming, or remote work.
I know several people using MTN fiber, and they’ve had zero issues with it.
Why Fiber is Better
One major benefit of fiber broadband is that it’s unlimited. You’re not paying for data bundles like 10GB or 20GB. Instead, you pay monthly for speed, or what’s known as bandwidth.
So you get:
1. Unlimited browsing
2. Fixed monthly pricing
3. Free device and installation
How to Know if It’s Available in Your Area
MTN is gradually rolling out fiber internet in selected parts of Nigeria. To find out if it's available where you live:
1. Visit the MTN Nigeria website
2. Go to the Support section
3. Click on Coverage Locator
Enter your location details to check if fiber, 4G, or 5G services are available in your area. You can also chat with MTN support directly on the site for additional help.
Ordering the Fiber Broadband
1. To place an order for the free MTN fiber device:
2. Go to the MTN Fiber Broadband page: mtn.ng/deal/fiber-broadband
3. Click on Order Now
Choose your state and location from the list (states currently supported include Lagos, Abuja, Rivers, Delta, Enugu, Kaduna, Cross River, Oyo, and more)
4. Enter your full address
5. Select a plan duration (e.g., 1 month or 6 months)
6. Choose your preferred speed (this determines how much you’ll pay monthly)
7. Fill in your NIN and personal details
Once you’ve completed the form, MTN will contact you within a few days to schedule the free installation.
Is It Worth It?
Honestly? Yes. The speeds offered are excellent, great for home use. In fact, when compared to services like Starlink, MTN Fiber holds its own, especially in terms of upload speeds.
And no, this isn’t a paid promo. I’ve made videos about Starlink before, so I’m speaking from experience when I say MTN Fiber can be a stronger and more stable alternative in many areas.
Final Thoughts
So there you have it—that’s how to get MTN’s unlimited fiber broadband installed in your home, free of charge.
